For twenty-five years our hosts have reclaimed, repurposed, and restored discarded treasures to create their hidden oasis. Discarded ten-foot rhododendrons and fragrant azalea were transplanted to frame a trail that overlooks the gardens. Reclaimed bricks from WWU create inviting patios and pathways. A collection of repurposed scrap metal sculptures and birdbaths draw your interest around every corner. The rock waterfall features soothe the city sounds. This hidden gem is debuting on its first public tour.
This host will provide limited drinks and snacks.
This award-winning urban garden in Historic Fairhaven has not been open to the public until the DVSAS Tour. Since 2005 the residents of Fairhaven Gardens have designed a unique urban landscape. In 2005, when the building was constructed, it had thousands of square feet of tiled roofs on several floors that were basically empty. The gardens are comprised of several microclimates, shade, partial shade, and full sun. Over the last 18 years, the residents collaborated to design, create, and maintain a beautiful and extensive container garden which includes many unique plantings. The gardens are the social center of our condo community providing a space for gatherings and dinners while watching the sunset. The community members commitment to working in and supporting the gardens has promoted a thriving community bond.
Laura tends to focus on plants that attract pollinators, plants that provide food for birds and plants that tend to be drought tolerant (as she prefers to water as little as possible). The garden is informal and includes a few older, more established plants but many of them have been added in the last 3-4 years. Laura and her husband Stephen have lived in Bellingham for 5 years. Theo the friendly dog will be around to greet guests.
I grew up in a city where winters are long and cold and summers are fleeting. Given that background, flowers represent the ultimate luxury to me. My garden now is the place where I am rich beyond my wildest dreams. I hope you can come by and join me; I am always delighted to share my blossoming wealth!
Hello, I’m Shänna Crovo and I am the creator of The Plant Collective. I knew from the outset, that my vision for this company was to gather incredible women who shared my love of plants and design, and that each one could bring something unique and amazing to the table. I love the beauty plants add to life, and how each one becomes like a touch of art to whatever space its placed it in. Let The Collective design, install, & nurture curated living art that will bring beauty to your life, convey your message, and enhance your brand. It’s my passion and privilege to create artfully designed spaces for each one of you.
